Connected to Wifi but no internet access

Hi all My father recently switched over from Eir to Vodafone for broadband. Set up new router for him yesterday and it's connecting to the router but there is no internet access. Any ideas what the issue is? Thanks

Had the old modem stopped working? You only change the modem after the service goes down.

Vodafone sent a new one upon switching. Had an Eircom Netopia up till then.

But did it actually go dead? The switch takes up to 10wking days but they send the modem early to prevent downtime.
