Insurance question

    Hi,

A question in regards to car insurance please.
I currently have an 04 Fiat Punto with comprehensive insurance, full driver's license, 1 year NCB (will be two years in September).
In June this car will be scrapped and I will take possession of a 161 Hyundai i20.
I just called my insurance and they told me it would cost approximately 25 euros more to insure the new car. That's not a huge difference and I can easily absorb the cost, but I was wondering if it's normal that a much newer and safer car would cost more to insure?

Also, I've been paying insurance on a monthly basis, the insurance company basically financed it as at the time I couldn't pay the yearly fee upfront. Am I stuck with them until the end of the 12 months or can I shop around and see if I can get cheaper somewhere else?

    Thanks in advance!

you're better off staying with them to build up your no claims bonus. keep in mind the new car is more valuable and more powerful than your current one.

A 161 car is worth actual serious money, and you have comprehensive cover. I'd say you're doing fairly well there. While it is indeed safer, it's also as pointed out more powerful, and probably considerably heavier.
