Delivery of new car

I put down a deposit on a new car back in March at a Dublin dealership and was told to expect a delivery date of early May.

For the past week or so, dealer kept saying that the car will be ready for collection within a day or two, but it consistently failed to turn up. According to them the car's already in Dublin (Baldonnell probably) for more than a week, but NVD didn't deliver according to their ETAs.

I paid €1k for delivery, is it too much to ask for a somewhat accurate collection date (+/1 a day or two), when the car is already in Baldonnell? I don't mind being told to wait for a specific date, but the dealer's false promises have led me to re-arrange work/travel plans in anticipation of collecting the car!

So anyone know if NVD provides reliable estimates of when a vehicle will be delivered to a dealer? Or is it down to pot luck and wild guesses?

NVD are solid useless. Generally a dealer doesn't get notifications of delivery to them until AFTER the car is dropped to the site.

Even at that the car (and most of the others in the truck) will have to be prepped for handover.
Bad handling of this by the salesman IMO.

It's possible that :

NVD have lost the car, but it will eventually turn up in the compound where it should have been.

NVD have delivered it to the wrong place, and it will eventually turn up where it should have been.

NVD have it scheduled for repair after it got a knock in transport, and it will eventually turn up where it should have been.

Last and least likely option is that it's so badly damaged that it can't be sold as a new car and the dealer is fobbing you off as he doesn't know what to do, but that's a highly unlikely story.

NVD did forget to collect 4 cars a couple of weeks ago, from a dealer who is part of the same group as they are. Turned up eventually, 3 days later than promised (on e-mail) and only because they were chased many times. Made a big mess of lots of plans....

Thanks for the insights, they did mentioned that there was a mix-up but car was supposed to have been located last week and request made to deliver.

Is the dealer obliged to inform customers if a new car has had any repairs, however minor?

the dealer wouldn't be told about repairs id say.

Last "damaged in transit" I had, the dealer just got a notification that there was damage and it would be delayed a few days. Didn't specify what the damage was, so dealer had to make some calls.

That turned out to be just a damaged tyre, but still had to wait for a tyre to come from the factory, so added about a week to delivery time.

Personally, I'd rather not know what the damage is if I was the dealer, then you don't have to tell any lies.

Just on this question... I paid a deposit of new car being factory built sales peraon said delivery date of end May beginning June. Emailed a week later to see if he had confirmed order and if he had got a date, replied to say no confirmed date but at a guess would have a build date of last week May first week June. Emailed again a few weeks later to see if there was a confirmed date and no reply... Should there be more communication? I don't want to be ringing/emailing the whole time but would like to have an idea of when to expect the car. Can someone advise?

They should have a build week by now. Ring the salesperson and speak to them.
