I saw the ad on the paper and if you go into the three site a rolling ad comes up

I'm interested in that phone at that price but using it on a different network/abroad. I've also found a guy on ebay that looks promising with unlock codes for less than 2. If he can do it, I'll leave a message here later on.

If it originally was sold at that price it would have been reasonable, if not good, but I wouldn't call it a bargain. I personally wouldn't recommend a phone to anybody now with less than 2GB RAM or 16GB storage, unless it has a microSD card option and Android 6.0 with the adoptable storage feature enabled. The Idol 3 doesn't have this available.

I think its an ok price - for under 100 the phone specs are alright and I can walk into a shop and walk out again and don't have to wait for it to arrive from China or deal with paypal/the seller in the event of a transaction problem or return it to China if there is a warranty-related issue.

If there are any phones with the above specs you recommend for the same price that I can buy from within the EU that is easy to unlock/unlocked I'd be happy to hear it: I'm ok with a large screen but a smaller screen will suit others.


Edit: I've also emailed the ebay guy and he said he can't unlock models with 6045 which rules out the Idol 3. That's me gone.

You really have to compare it against the Moto G 2nd gen and 3rd gen. They are the benchmark here.

Also you've got consider which phones will likely get an update. Probably most Android phones under 200 never get updates. With the exception of the MotoG's.

It's a great price for a 4g phone you'll not get one cheaper than that, well except for the huawei Y5 but that's fairly old now. I've had an eye on these phones for awhile on three and although I'm not sure how much it was before it almost certainly wasn't €189. Three do it all the time the Y6 was €99 couple months ago (not deal) and is €119 now.

Anyway saw this, might work for unlock but wouldn't bet on it.

I have the Idol 3 5.5 inch dual SIM. Recently got the Android 1/4/16 security patch. It's due Marshmallow upgrade this month. I would not get the 4.7 inch as I hear it's under powered. The 5.5 has very slight lag (some say it's Android 5.0.2 doing that) but other than that it's a solid phone. Front speakers are class. I can't really fault it for the higher price I paid few months after it came out.

There is an Idol 4 now, so expect further price reductions on the 3.

It's unlocked so got updated from Alcatel.
I got mine from Amazon.de. Now down to 239 euro.
