I'm heading to the K club tomorrow to the ProAm my mate suggested we play a course before we go in, any ideas what would be a good course for reasonable money? I've been looking at Royal Curragh or Kileen castle are they any good?

Kileen Castle is well worth a visit, best parkland i have played in Ireland so far. I played it in march this year and last year. I would imagine its in top condition now. The greens were good then even though they were spiked.

Killeen and Killeen Castle are different places. The former is very handy for the K Club. The latter isn't.

Probably the nearest club to the K-Club also. I've played it a lot as some of the guys I work with are members. It's alright. Decent condition apparently at the moment. I would pick Naas over it 8 days a week. If coming from the other side, you could look at Carton House.

Thanks for the replies guys meeting my mate at the K club so that's our start point. Naas is booked out but Kileen castle is available also Carlton house if we get up early enough. Interesting that there is a few tee times on the smurfit course Thursday early but unfortunately none tomorrow.

If there is parking/shuttle bus from Punchestown racecourse, then Craddockstown would be very convenient.

If you're looking at a "championship" type course, Palmerstown House is also very convenient (right beside Naas and Kileen not Castle) to the K Club.

There's an open on tomorrow with plenty of slots from 7:30 onwards, €35.

Kileen Castle is a decent spin away. If you are meeting at the K Club to go and play a game and head back to the K Club, you are mad to pick that. It might take you an hour each way

Indeed it is, OP asked about Killeen castle though. Its not that far away anyway 30 minutes or so. But i take your point.

yes 40km over back roads with traffic going to the golf....... need to be giving yourself extra time.

they are meeting at the k club, going to play golf and then going back to the k club..........its madness even considering it

I suspect the OP was confusing the two Killeens. A common enough mistake, not dissimilar to people booking the wrong Adare or the wrong Portmarnock.
