Last minute drop outs. I have two places in a fourball playing royal county down tomorrow at 4pm for 60 pounds. You must have a gui card from a club in ulster and photo id.

Personally I'd tell them where to shove their "gui card from a club in Ulster". Didn't realise there was a separate GU(N)I division.

The gui card from ulster is for the 60 pounds rate we got. Its a deal for local gui clubs to play this course for 1/3 of the price. If i told them to shove it i'd have to pay 180 pounds for the round.
Ulster gui clubs also include cavan, monaghan and donegal. I'd never be able to afford this place only for this deal and thought maybe someone else would also like the chance.

Ah no, that's fair enough from your side and hopefully someone can take advantage of it. I just disagree with their policies and think that golf is a 32 county sport on this island as endorsed and supported by the GUI.

Yea we're making the trip up from cavan to take advantage of this deal, they only offer so many places a year so ive been waiting a while for this one.

Well aware of the four branches. Think you're missing the point.

not really. I would have been surprised if you were not aware. I was making a smart comment.

think you are out of line telling them to shove it. clubs are a business. lots of business do deals to give certain deals to certain groups that other people cant get.

lets say for example you work in a shop in a big shopping centre. there might be staff discounts for all the other shops. the principle is no different really

Completely disagree and fairly baffled at your perspective.

The GUI is made up of 4 branches and is inclusive of all 32 counties. That's the way it works and how it should be. There should be no restrictions imposed on you depending on which branch you are located in.

So now that that is nice and clear for you, I will refrain from engaging in any more of your smart retorts.

Again you are out of line with that comment. fair post up to that point and it just highlighted our different opinions.

You are quite entitled to your opinion. I just happened to have a different one and disagree with yours, so you feel the need to belittle me!

    whatever makes you happy.

    FYI folks..
The Championship course at RCD can be played for £50 during the Mourne's Golf Club open week in July every year.

This year it is the week of the 11th to the 15th July

Unless it was some sort of regional qualifier - you could justify the Ulster GUI card concept ?

BUt totally out of order to ask for a GUI card from Ulster was my reaction too.

Imagine A Dublin club saying you can't be from munster:eek:

I'm almost sure there is a similar scheme here in Connacht where members of neighbouring courses get to play at reciprocal green/ open fees.

I know over the winter months if you were a member of a Mayo club, Carne were doing a special deal. Dont know how strict it was though. Was a very good deal. €80 for a fourball.

I saw this but can't find any information on it. How do I book in for this? Is it ring up RCD or who do I contact? The Mourne Golf club website has nothing.

Yuup. In wicklow too. Not sure if it still exists though.

Basically a bunch of clubs got together. A member of any of them could play any of the others plus bring 3 guests out, all playing at the members guest rate which would be a good bit cheaper than normal green fees.

I rang the club yesterday to see what dates the open week was this year and enquired about booking too. I always just used to ring the club. Your man gave me an email of the lady who takes bookings and he said that is probably the best way to get sorted.
