Stage 1 on now on Eurosport. Looks fairly dull and carlton kirbys proably stuck in a cupboard some where in europe doing the commentary.

No specific thread so I'll post it here:

Sagan was very impressive in the stage yesterday at the TOC. He gets up steep, sharp, short climbs so well.

finished on Laguna Seca racetrack and some nice scenery on the stage too

just caught the last few KMs of this last night (its a level above the dullness of a middle east race), was one of the young american lads from Axeon trying to go away solo and looked like he was doing ok till he hit the final climb and the peloton zipped by him and left him zig zagging across the road like a man being left for dead

Very poor TV picture relay. Frustrating to watch.

Every year this is a race plagued by picture break up.
How can they not sort it? I mean its in Cailfornia, I could understand if it was Africa or Asia, or somewhere else with poor infrastructure. Like Clare.

Looks quite chunky all right although has been focusing on track training with the UK team recently.

Makes sense - there are no hills to climb in the pursuit and muscle mass is much more important (belly fat less so!)

    That's my approach anyway!

Sagan going for a long one today and giving it his all. Also no motorway racing so more scenic for me.

final stage on now but only few KM left, Tinkoff look like theyre setting Sagan up for a big sprint, few riders been on the floor

    YAWN.....

    Is it over?

And did anybody give that Antler-Man toolbox a kick this year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,084 ✭✭✭✭neris

Thankfully it is. Final sprint was good but its not a race that I,d miss (along with the middle east & chinese races) if they got rid of it.

Delighted to see Cav win, especially as he lost his lead out. Other than that, a glorified training camp for pro tour riders

I don't know - it does kind of fill a gap for riders not doing the giro, and the live coverage is at a handy time (for me at least)! I see there's complaints about the transfers this year, which is usually the teams getting their excuses in early for the next year. My biggest bugbear is Carlton, but that could be any race!

Carlton and ****ty camera work is a pain in the hole. The camera work on the race is terrible, they were trying to get aerial shots of the riders lining up for the sprint through trees last night
