Is anyone else having trouble with Saorsat? It is on and off all morning (Saturday) for me.

It was working perfect last night, I'm away today so can't check myself.

But I rang home and the young lad checked and said it appears to be working.

When I say check, he turned it on and all looks good (picture, signal, strength and quality all good) I don't think he's watching telly at the moment incase it's an intermittent problem.

I also had to do a factory reset on Thursday as RTE Gold was only working for a while and then audio would stop. Had to change channel and audio would work again. Could have been the stb.

    All working well after reset.

I'm having issues all week with it. Signal dropping out completely and returning after a while. Even went to reline the lnb today but couldn't get it any better. 36% snr and 62% agc. The snr is always low but its down about 10% this week.

Hi lads, I got to check Saorsat tonight myself, it's seems to be working perfect.
Also recorded a movie on timer over the weekend, no problems.

    UPDATE:
It's beginning to look like a DISEQC switch failure on my end. Will investigate further and report back. :(

I had a quick check for you earlier and RTÉ One was definitely missing - it was a Saorsat issue because all channels would be down if it was either weather-related or your LNB giving problems.

It's back now as it happens...

Thanks, I have them back now also, it was a close one as Dublin V Wexford are on RTE 1 today in the hurling, would of cracked up if I'd missed it, cheers.

UPDATE: I changed what I thought was the suspect DISEQC switch only to find it then started dropping out on the other tuner. Maybe I'm wrong but the chances of two switches failing at the same time and only on the SaorSat port... That's the danger of trying to pin down an intermittent fault.
    Thanks everyone for your input.
BTW no mention of anything on the aertel TX page.

When I set up Saorsat first, I found it difficult to get it correctly aligned, I had issues with the signal dropping in and out in various weather.
Adventually I got it aligned correctly, however I found the dish would have a much tighter alignment than 28e,19 or 13.
Needed help from the young lad who on the phone watched the signal bars on the tv screen, while I gently moved the dish East/south/up and down and the lnb in and out until I got a perfect signal.
I'm using an 80cm dish for Saorsat alone.

Granted I occasionally got rain fade in a severe downpour but it has been fine for almost 2 years up to last week. The box shows a strong signal but no data. It's more like just that TP is off.

I noticed this morning's missing stations too, on my old Humax Foxsat. RTE 2 was fine. The missing stations still had their program information, but no audio or video.

Otherwise I've not noticed anything out of order in recent weeks.

@gerry wicklow, have you tried changing the frequency by one digit at the end and doing a rescan? I use 10765 but I do recall when I set up solo2 it would not find anything so I changed frequency. I am in clare and its booming in sr 73%(11.5db) agc 78%. its worth a try but as you are further east they may have realinged beam or reduced power. I use a triax 68cm.

Just an update on my issue.
My setup is a multi lnb pointed at 5e with lnbs at 1w,9e,13e and 19e on a 1.1m dish. The Soarsat deteriorated to an un-useable level (constant breakups). Realigned dish to 9e and levels increased but signal was completely gone in drizzle and rain.

Ended up buying new LNB and the signal went to 75/95. LNB (inverto) went faulty but didn't totally fail. Its a difficult one to test as the replacement is €40.

    Hope this helps someone.

Likewise after months of erratic behaviour, working fine one minute and nothing the next, it finally died. Have new LNB on order from TVtrade so I'll update if there's any progress.

    Hi
i have had 2 of them giving similar trouble in the last while.the first one was on a triax 1 meter dish that was loosing signal with rain, when i changed the lnb the signal came right up and no problems since,
the second one was on a triax 1.1 meter dish and giving similar symptoms and is just over 1 year old.idont know if any other manufacturer makes them?

I was an early adopter so it was one of the first commercially available ones in the country. Can't complain I suppose but it was a peculiar failure mode. It's the worst kind of fault to trace being so intermittent.

OK so I replaced the LNB and am back up and running. Still not getting a massive signal even after re-aligning the dish. The proof of the pudding is when the weather breaks which hopefully wont be for a while yet.
