Claiming HRI on ROS

I want to claim for work done last year (2015). The contractors have put up the details and a couple of months ago I ticked them off online, choosing the option of a lump sum credit rather than a PAYE type monthly credit. I am now completing my Form 11 for 2015 on line and am not sure what figure to put in the box for the HRI credit claim - do I just put in the total claim, or can I only claim half now and half next year? Sorry if this is s stupid question!

Rigth! I rang them so can answer my own question. You just put in the the total amount as appears on the HRI system. Maybe this info will be of some use to someone else!

Can a contractor refuse to put the work up online and if so, can they be reported?

Well, of course they can refuse, but the thing is, if they have charged you VAT on the work / materials, they are then obliged to remit this over to Revenue anyhow. The VAT liability is yours and they are only acting as collection agents on your behalf.

So, if they refuse to use the HRI interface, something stinks. This seems extremely fishy to me. Your best course of action is to report this.
