After suffering with my phone line broadband of around 1.5 mbps because of distance from exchanges I have gone for Vodafone 8mbps Home Broadband. I set up the modem Huawei 658c 2 days ago but the speeds I am getting are around the same as with the landline.

I think I read somewhere that it takes time for the speeds to stabalise. Is this the case and if so how long roughly before I start hassling Vodafone. I would like to have the answers to any fob off "go away" type statements that might be made.
Any advice would be very welcome.

I don't understand ....... you seem to think that you will get higher speeds from a different provider while using the same hardware ....... copper from exchange to your home?

If you were sold the service on this basis then IMO you were mislead, possibly deliberately.

You won't get better speeds with Vodafone.

Vodafone are using the same "phone line broadband" as eir. They are using the same technology as Eircom as they are only reselling the Eircom service.

    Easy:

Option A: leave it as is, a bit erratic and maybe unstable.
Option B: apply the correct 1Mb profile and lose ~42% of the current rates but be very consistent.

Although I knew that no improvement in speed can be obtained by any provider from the current copper wire to my home, I somehow convinced myself that Vodafone's offering was some "amazing new development in technology" maybe stored on the "cloud" or via a "dongle". I am half joking to cover up my stupidity in not asking the right questions before buying and falling for the advertising hype which happens when not understanding all the technical terminology.
No real harm done anyway as the package is a good one and buying it made me decide to get rid of my landline, so one less bill.
Many thanks for your help and time in replying.
