Liquid screed supplier has recommended placing 500 gauge polytene on the bedroom floors before laying the laminate flooring. My question is will this plastic have an effect on the heat transferring from the slab into the room.

What did he say is the reason for laying 500 gauge polythene?

Is it for moisture? If so there wouldn't be an issue with moisture once floors are dried out.

Underlay these days act in the same way, resist moisture and sound etc.

floor is currently at 1% moisture had it tested Friday. They said it was good to go for flooring (I know tiling needs 0.5%) but they always recommend placing polytene under wood and laminate flooring.

I've no issue putting it down as I've a few rolls left on site, I'm just curious to know will it have any effect on heat transfer. I'm thinking probably not because the underlay will be blocking it more.

Did they give a reason? I've never heard of this.

To avoid any residual moisture effecting the flooring.

Like I said I've the polythene left over and it'll take all of 5mins to put it down.

Is it trapped then between the 2 polythene layers?

Good point think I'll have to get them back on the phone to clarify

Just a note on the above, is this the floor screening company recommending this.

Maybe discuss with laminate and wood flooring suppliers, see what they think given the fact it's just 1% moisture
