Watching the latest Legends of Tomorrow last night I finally realised that show and film producers really need to stop typecasting this man!

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good actor and is always great at what he does and I'm delighted to see that he's getting plenty of work which is great for his career however he's typecast as the senior or leadership guy who appears to be legit but, on further inspection, turns out to have switched sides and is working for the baddies.

I don't mind this so much in shows like Legends which is a bit of a laugh but it did take away some of the suspense from the Vandal Savage shenanigans once he appeared and also once I saw his name on the show opening credits.

He ruined an entire episode of Elementary recently though where he was cast as the CEO of a tech firm Sherlock and Watson were investigating. Although the writers had produced a good story and there were some good twists, 10 minutes in however when he appeared I instantly thought "HE DID IT|||" and, lo and behold, I was right.

His appearance in Ant-Man took away from that film a little as well.

I really wish at this point somebody would cast him against type and really surprise me. I sometimes sit there wondering how the actor himself feels about the whole thing? I suppose though if he's collecting a decent paycheck he probably doesn't mind and he's in demand so it's clearly not just me who thinks he's good at what he does. The problem is that next time I see a new show with him as a senior manager/FBI boss/Intergalactic head honcho it'll just blow half the season's arc for me.
