Am going to test drive an 09 astra 1.4 petrol with 80 kmson the clock and I have a question.

They have a reputation for head gasket trouble but would that always happen or is the main reason the fact that's it's not regularly checked out for coolant etc?

    Any thoughts please?

If that was the case, all cars would have as much gasket trouble as Astra's, or is it just more owners of Astra's are careless? In my opinion, it's the car. I've seen too many Astra's with cracked heads for it to be coincidence.. Saying all that, I'm sure they're is people who would swear by them

if it's the new model astra I would say it's totally unsuited to your driving. it's slow uneconomical and heavy. (assuming youre not looking at a turbo model)
