So i am going to portugal soon and looking to book a holiday rental/villa because the hotels are a rip off but has anyone ever booked through trip advisor they say they have a payment protection but im still slightly weary as you have to give a couple of hundred deposit and its not a hotel just ordinary landlords ?

just back from an apartment in portugal which we booked through trip advisor rentals. had to pay a deposit upfront and the rest before we traveled. must say it was the best place we've stayed in abroad, the apartment was huge and there was everything in it we needed

Always book somewhere that has as many (good) reviews as possible. Don't ever book somewhere with no reviews.
