VW Passat fog light problem

Hi

I recently purchased the car second hand. I'm getting a light failure light, it initially said left fog and now it says both left and right yet both are coming on?

I disconnected and reconnected the left fog light but no change warning light remains.

Any idea what the issue may be could the light come on if the bulbs are maybe not at full strength or maybe it sees they are in there way out?

Anyone got any idea I changed both fog light bulbs but still getting the failure message on the left and right front fog lights

What type bulbs are you using, Incandescent/halogen/LED?
Are they standard/correct bulbs for your car? What year is car?

Some aftermarket bulbs can give false error messages.
