I suppose our historic 'problems' with our neighbour has prevented uniformed PSNI / Met etc being on the streets here but as crime becomes more multinational the Chinese and Italians are linking up http://www.dw.com/en/italy-brings-in-chinese-police-to-patrol-rome-and-milan/a-19240234

(I suppose we can count the Tour de France start back in the 90's as one example for the uniformed Gendarmerie being on Irish streets, and both the French and Italian embassys have uniformed Gendarme and Carabineri behind the gates )

Bit late to this but ah well.

Think this is a very good idea to be honest. Could be a great experience for members of the Gardai to go London to really see the depths of modern policing. :P

Would love to see some Met on the streets over here for a couple of days. Would be quite funny.

I've seen uniformed PSNI working at the Noting Hill Carnival. I know it's all part of the UK, but it was strange to see.
