Came back from holidays and went to open the door with fob and nothing.

Thought maybe battery was dead but opened the door with key. But didnt hear the central locking click. I noticed before I went away the rest of the doors were about 2 seconds behind the drivers door. Anyway got in and went to shops but could not lock drivers door without the key.

Got home and was messing to see if it was just the button inside stuck and managed to press it to the point it locked. But again it didnt lock all doors. However now drivers door wont open.....period! I've also noticed that the rear door on the passenger side wont open when I unlock from the passenger front side! And the boot doesnt open when using the button on the dash now either

I'm replacing it anyways so its not a huge deal. its just awkward and was wondering if there was something stupid i was missing and could do myself.

Also at this stage with this problem and NCT fail am I better to bring to an end of life recycler so i can claim rest of motor tax back ? (taxed till end of Jan) or whats the best way?? Sell it for 300 or so??

Wd40 into all lock mechanisms and it's a common issue.

Had a kind of similar issue with my car all doors bar the drivers door would open, sprayed in wd40 into the lock and juggling the key left to right at the same time gave the door under the key lock position a couple of thumps with my hand and bingo.Same thing has happened over the last two years and that was the fix ..

Spray some down at window seals and use key as water and dirt gets into moving parts and in times clogs them up.

Don't spray wd40 on the window seals, it will destroy them.

On those focuses problematic central locking is common. This can be down to a few issues, the two main ones are a dead motor or sticking actuators.

A sticking actuator will cause a delay in the central locking and sometimes cause it to not work at all. There is a good chance that oiling the actuators will solve your problem. Ideally the lock would need to be removed from the door to do this however there is a way to get some oil in to it it without removing the locks which can sometimes be successful in fixing the problem.

The way to do this is to open the two front door and remove the third bolt(the one closest to the car) holding the door latch/lock. Then get a can of spray oil and with the straw attached spray into the bolt hole. Make sure you spray enough in there so that it runs down into the lock. Do this on the 2 front doors.

If it's successful the 2 front doors should open and close the car as normal.

This is the first thing I'd try. after this if a certain door isn't opening its probably down to a dead motor.

The boot switch on the dash working is a rarity on those old focuses at this stage. I'm not sure if the problem is with the switch or something on the boot door. On mine I never bothered fixing it tbh.

The unit is under dash to right of right foot.
Sprayed plenty down before never A problem but did plenty of jet washing after.
