I'm putting in an 8 kW solid fuel stove.

What is the correct wall vent size I must install...100/150/200 mm?

400 sq ft room with 8 ft high ceiling.

    Thanks.

    Thanks, Syd.

    No, Bryan. Built in 1999.

There's an existing 100 mm vent in the room with a sliding grill.

    I just read that, Syd.

Is it possible to get one that reduces the air intake into the room when the stove isn't on?

    technically no.

but you should be purchasing a stove that doesnt draw air from the room when its not lit.

i.e. normally when the damper is fully closed.

OP, can the stove take an external supply?

    Not sure, Calahonda.

    It's a Dimplex Westcott 8 kW.

The guy installing the stove reckons I won't need a flexible chimney liner because the 6 inch stove flue will be connecting to the existing 8 inch clay flue. He said that isn't a huge difference. Is he right?
