    Hi everyone.We are now in a position to buy a property.We recently saw a 2 bed bungalow that needs complete renovation.Question: Is it easy to get planning permission to convert a 2 bed property to a 4 bed?Thanks

    Depends on the house and site in question. Is it a protected structure or in a conservation area, is there much room to expand on site, are there houses nearby? Bit more background information required.

    generally, you are allowed to extend your property for the enjoyment of its occupants subject to particular requirements as set out in the County/City Development Plan.

    ie. You cannot fill your garden with an extension, you cannot put something outrageous and completely out of character with adjoining properties.

    Assuming you have room to extend to rear and/or to side then shouldn't be a problem. Would be ideal if garden south or west facing. Look to rejig the interior layout of existing at same time to suit.
