    Hi,
Not much knowledge of cars myself so just wondering what advice ppl would give me looking to buy a used car. Budget around 9k. Do mainly city driving with the odd 200km home every couple of weeks. Been told diesel is the way to go and for expense and less tax. Saw a nice focus 2010 in price range with average mileage. How reliable are these cars? Thanks for the help

mainly city driving and diesels don't really go very well together.
But i you kust go diesel there are a few diesel cars out there that dont have a diesel partuculate filter (these at clogged up if they dobt get a good run) and dual mass flywheel (this can deteriorate from lots of stop start driving) like the Hyundai i30 pre-facelift. we have a 116bhp one and it has neither DPF or DMF.

Honestly though for your driving you should be looking at a mk2 Prius hybrid. There epically reliable and really suited to city driving while not being out of their depth on longer runs. they're automatic too which is brilliant for city driving.

personally I would avoid a diesel focus like the plague.

The people giving you advice to buy a diesel for mainly city driving are giving you bad advice.
