Our timer seems to have gone - has three settings, being on, off and timer and it keeps jumping to 'on'.

Two adult household and we are both claiming no one has forced the boiler on. It's just a bog standard spinning wheel thing.

How much to replace roughly? We are hoping to move to a Nest type system at the end of the summer when we replace three radiators and move the toilet and sink (saving up).

Also recommendations of North Dublin plumbers (D9/11) appreciated.

Do you have it setup correctly? Are you used to using that timer?

Everyone has different prices but €130 supplied & fitted ballpark.
Probably would have been better posting in electrical. A lot of plumbers don't like electrics

It's been working fine for the past 18 months. The dial is self explanatory; notches up for on, notches down for off when on timer. The buttons are off, timer and on. Somehow it's flinging itself off the timer and into permanent 'on'. There's a separate switch upstairs for turning the boiler on if it needs a boost. There's only two of us in the house, so no little people fiddling etc.

Is it flicking itself on at the same times always?

Not that we have noticed. Over the past three weeks we'll notice sounds that indicate the boiler is on when it shouldn't be, and sure enough when we check it, it has gone on.

I can't understand how the knob is switching itself on though!

I was wondering if something was loose or caught in the dial. Those almost never give trouble. Is it able to switch itself on when in the off position?

I've not tried turning it 'off off', we just leave it on the timer selection. It's like we have a bad tempered ghost sponsored by the utility company...

I've just checked around it for loose things / bits of fluff / obstructions and it all seems clean and clear.

just change it then or use it as a manual on off switch until you upgrade.
