have a ford 5000 that spends most of its life on the spinner. It currently has the chain stabilizers that were standard with them. The treads are gone on one chain and the other chain keeps loosening even when the locking nut is up against it.

Was looking at the above as an alternative. I'm am finding the chains a prick of a thing. there is far better stabilizers on the fiats where the arms can be locked solid in any position.

The thing wirh chain is it stretches with use over time. This would have happened to your stabiliser chains.

You could try your local qtp agent for the solid stabiliser arms like in photo.

You are dead right about the old fiats. Way ahead of their time compared to the competition. Rust was their only achilles heel.

I have similar stabilizers on a 135, honestly there isn't much advantage to them over a good set of chains. The one advantage is they stabilize the arms when there is no implement on which can make reversing into some implements a little easier.

Chain stabilisers on my 168 and they are a curse compared to the solid ones on OH's Fiat 880. I often thought of changing them to solid ones but if I have to do a lot of transport box/land levelling etc I use the Fiat.
@ Muckit the 880 mechanically is sound but the cab is slowly disintegrating due to rust even though we continue to patch it every year.
