The Bosch has higher capacity battery than the other 2, and there's 2 of them. That's what I'd get.
Basic DeWalt isn't anything special, they're all pretty much engineered to fail, none of them will outlive you :)

I got that Dewalt on Amazon for circa 127£ with two batteries about 2 year ago. My old Bosch 12V are no longer used. Dewalt has great ergonomics, added an impact driver off ebay which takes same battery and it also fits in same case, which is alos half the size of the 2 bosch 12v drill set i have.
Lovely speed off the 18V and both have led lights on the chuck area.

Moved into a house of my own so need to buy my own cordless drill. Budget for drill & bits is around €150, and I hate buying things twice.

    Wandered up to B&Q today...

Ryobi with 2 batteries is in B&Q for €117: http://www.diy.com/departments/ryobi-one-plus-cordless-18v-li-ion-combi-drill-2-batteries-llcdi18022l/196738_BQ.prd

    Bosch PSB1800 Li-2 (2 batteries) in B&Q for €130 http://www.diy.com/departments/bosch-cordless-18v-li-ion-hammer-drill-2-batteries-psb-1800-li-2/1131623_BQ.prd
Can get same drill for €160 with a case that includes a set of bits. Think the case is a bit cheap and nasty though.

Dewalt with one battery for €97 http://www.diy.com/departments/dewalt-cordless-18v-li-ion-combi-drill-1-battery-dcd776c1-gb/765799_BQ.prd

Or... am I overthinking this? At this price point does it matter a damn which one I choose?

The best deal in B&Q was the Hitachi. They all seem more expensive now. I paid €120 for a Makita 18v Ni Cad with three batteries two years ago & I love it. I would hang on & see if they get any better offers. That Bosch is the domestic quality one.

It's really worth getting to know some of the staff. I have been tipped off that something I am about to buy is dropping in price & I have been given friends & family discount vouchers.

Use your money on the drill & buy bits as & when you need them.

i use power tools every day so have a lot of experience in them believe me when i say avoid Ryobi , i have used them in the past and they dont last .

bosch are the best of the mid price bracket never had an ssue with them they take a lot of abuse . dewalt are a solid brand . Makita are my personal choice .

but the dewalt above is much weaker with only a 1.3 ah battery the bosch at 2ah would be better

Go on adverts and search for dewalt or makita. They make the very best 18v battery tools in my opinion. Recently got an old dewalt drill thrown in on a deal when buying something else on adverts. It's a beast of a yoke. Bought makita for over 10 years. Numerous drills, angle grinders etc. They are quality.

You should get a good second hand makita or dewalt drill within your budget.

If your only going to be using a drill once in a blue moon, I would look at the drills from aldi or Lidl. They're cheap as chips and are not too bad

have a look on screwfix, they do some great deals on drills, I bought one off them a few months ago because they were the best value. can't fault them

I wouldn't get too much of a hard on for a higher amp hour battery unless you are working in severe rural Ireland where there is no power.

So do I, you are talking trash. voltage is voltage, amp hour is amp hour.

whatever you think man there is no way in hell that a 1.3ah battery power tool feels anywhere near the same as a 3-4 ah one. could be all in my head but thats personal experience

Its in your head, I have tried telling you that.

Watt matters here, and is not hard to understand, is power which is volts by amps so the bigger the amp hours the greater the available power which is the ability to do work so a 1.3 amp hour battery will not drive as many 100mm screws, as a 3 amp hour, it might drive none:D

Would a Bosch GSB 10.8 do the job? Says it's got hammer action. Little cheaper and lighter than the 18v cousins.

    I wouldn't bother. it's be more of a screwdriver than a drill.
