    Hello
I've been trying to look for information on this but haven't found any.

I'm claiming Jobseekers Allowance at the moment and I was thinking of going into self employment.

As far as I understand to get the BTWEA you need to be claiming for 12 months so I am not eligible for that.
I also found out that it is possible to claim JSA if you are self employed and your income is reduced. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/self_employed_and_unemployment.html#l260fc

But I can't see anything there for my situation where I am already claiming Jobseekers allowance and hopefully going into self employment??
    Thanks for you help

Short term enterprise allowance is only for people on jobseekers benefit. If you are currently on jobseekers allowance and starting self employment you inform your sw office and they will either review your means inhouse or send them to a sw inspector. Any means derived from self employment will be assessed against your jsa.

Thanks for the responses. Dissapointing that I'm not on Jobseekers Benefit instead.

I presume if I take up self employment while still claiming JSA I will have to still be looking for full time employment?

If you take up self employment whilst on JSA you wont be expected to be looking for work. If you are on JSA long enough you could apply for Back to work enterprise allowance.
