Is there a sticky thread taking about Android TV? Want to buy one but there is just so many out there to pick from. Would love for someone to just tell me which one just works really well and I will just buy.

Main usage will be RTE player and Netflix but keen to use other steaming services and assume BBC player cannot work in Ireland?

If the remote can work with Logitech Harmony that would be a big bonus.

    Thanks!

At €100 you should jump on an Nvidia Shield TV......Today is Prime Day on Amazon and the Shield is being offered to Prime Users(which you can sign up for a free 30 trial & cancel it afterwards) ,for £99 incl shipping.

This works out at about €120 and this is the current best Android box on the market by a large distance....Super for Streaming,Gaming,General family,4k,HDR,
full Plex setup, cast to wireless devices etc,etc use...

Trust me you won't regret the purchase,a bargain.

Excuse my ignorance but what channels can be accessed with the android box? I want to give up sky but I am a news and crime show junkie. I tried to stream cnn on my lg smart tv but its not compatible with adobe flash so won't work.

All depends on what app you download, with Kodi you can install loads of channels and then stream it.

But these boxes only really work properly if they are wired connected to good broadband. Wireless and they will be competing in the house with all your other wireless devices (not unless your wireless router has some way of prioritising connections and most of the carrier supplied are crap at this).

Really only get one that has wired ethernet and you can connect to your router/modem directly and that you have decent broadband!

The mobile app works on the Shield TV if you sideload it.But it's poor quality and you need a mouse & Keyboard to navigate it.

I actually have one, but (this happened a few times), you need to run to the throne room for a bit and your casting something you can't bring your phone to catch up on some reading!!! :D
