I have a leon mk2 and the airbag warning light isnt going on. It's an nct fail as is. Does anyone know what causes it. Is there any fix to get through the nct short term so I can book it in with seat and get it fixed long term.

There is no "short-term fix". Whatever is causing it must be fixed properly.

    Was light working before?
Do you have a code scanner?

Thanks for getting back to me. The car is new to me, worryingly. I don't have a code scanner. Can I use one somewhere or buy one.

It could be several reasons the light doesn't come on. Anything from a blown bulb to something more costly.

Easiest for you is probably to just bring car to a mechanic and have them scan it for codes and check bulb.

The usual cause for the airbag light to stay on on these is that the wires on the connectors for the airbag for the seat which are under the seat (Usually Passenger side) become dis jointed. The best fix is to separate and sauder back together. You could get it scanned and try to clear the code to get it through the NCT but to help it from reoccurring you need to repair.

    Do a search on Google

OPs issue is that the light does not come on at all.

Google could tell the op a multitude of things, best get the car diagnosed by diagnostics rather than by google.

Most likely previous owner has removed the bulb to cover up the fault. Is it possible the car was in a crash before?

It's the thing Im most concerned about. The previous owner had the car from new and took good care of it. I've seen no evidence of a crash. But my first thought was that I've been screwed. Got to find a garage and get it diagnosed.

Don't worry until you have evidence, it's just wasted energy.
    Bulb could just have died.

You could start today by removing dash and swapping bulbs over

Sauder fixes everything. Especially in flexible parts of SRS wiring.
