i got the timing belt replaced in feb16 on qashqai 2010 46000km
went in for service april 16 service done
workshop manager told me i had engine oil leak he cleaned it off and said to check it , it takes months for this leak to show up
i think its a badly done timing belt job thats caused this leak
all work done by nissan dealer service
how do i go about this without it turning into a shouting match
oil at the back of engine timing belt cover and on driveshaft rubber boot under timing belt

99% of engines dont need any oil seal disturbed during a timing belt change. (the 1% being the likes of the Ford 1.8tdci wet belt).

I'd say it's just bad luck and not the dealers fault. It could be the crankshaft or camshaft seal if it's around the belt, to replace either of these it's a belt off job.

And imo no need to bring a 6 year old car to a main dealer for service work

It's a chargeable job again. They might knock a few €, but it will be small.

If cost is a big factor, bring it to an independent garage to diagnose and do the work.

Have you checked the rocker cover? Maybe it's leaking from there. I don't see how changing the belt would of caused a leak from the engine.

Im not familiar with that engine but I know on the Toyota 4e fe engine that the oil seals in by the timing belt harden over time and eventually leak which ends up covering the belt in oil and end up ruining it. This usually takes 10+ years though but if I seen any hint of a leak id have the seals replaced as a precautionary measure.
