Scratching Sound from recently bout Golf

I bought a 07 golf from a dealer in February. 3 months warranty.
Recently there's been an intermittent awful scratching/rattle sound. I told the dealer this and he told me the garage to go to and they would sort it out.

I brought the car to it last Saturday, they had a listen and then took off the tyre to show me rust on the axle(? i don't have the greatest knowledge of cars, but it was the disc with the rust making the noise). He gave it a clean and sent me on my way.

The scratching noise is still there (maybe on the other front tyre too).

Now my warranty is up in 2 weeks, do you think this rust is ok? or do i need a whole new axle?

Is it when you brake? It could be worn brake pads scratching the discs? Get your own mechanic (or one you trust) to check it out...

It's more so when I'm turning or on an incline or decline...

...or a heat shield slightly out of place? (More consistent with the hard lock occurrences)
