    Hi Guys,
I have a B6 Passat. Got the turbo and timing belt replaced aswell as a service to cahnge filters etc about three weeks ago. Now I am having a problem that got progressively worse it seems where the Car would Jerk while driving. No particular pattern or time interval, can be very frequent, 10 times in a minute or so. If I am at low revs like at a roundabout or lights it can just cut out. Or more accurately WILL cut out. Had a quick google and read about the MAF, Disconnected the sensor and went for a drive and no difference.

Emissions warning light has pretty much been on since I got the car essentially.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help

Is it petrol or diesel and what size engine

On the emission light thing. Has it always been on or just since it came back from mechanic 3 weeks ago. Also what does the emission light look like. Is it the yellow engine management light you are talking about?

    Diesel 1.9. 105Bhp

I presume its a misfiring issue maybe? Hopefully a simple spark plug replacement or coil pack?

    Diesels don't have spark plugs.

You should get car plugged in for a scan. Could also be something like a cam shaft position sensor or injector system issue

I dont think the light was on when I bought it from the garage, but has been on a long time. When i got it serviced he said it was gone but it came back straight away. I get an emmissions warning but the yellow light is always on

    Are they expensive issues?

Sensor is about €100 and straight forward enough to change. Sometimes these photo sensors just need a clean to remove the grime on the end of them.

With injection system is too hard to say as it could be electrical or mechanical

Again, they are only my best guesses of what could be wrong and a scan is required.

Surprised a garage that changed your turbo and timing belt can't tell you what the fault code is, a scan is the least they should be doing after giving them that kind of business

Well im dropping it in tomorrow. Just want to have some research done so I can possibly relate to what they are saying. I dropped 1100 with them a few weeks ago and then this problem started pretty much straight away which has me worried. Could they have caused it? On research the CPS it really describes the problems I have been having and the gradual worsening of the problem. Not as good mileage, rougher engine etc.

    Thanks for your help

Sounds like an injector fault. Yet another known issue with the vw tdi.

A bit off topic but maybe someone can help? Can a Skoda garages check a VW Passats computer to look for a fault? Car stopped other day for no reason and no warning lights at all..thanks
