Finance interview public service

I have an interview for a finance post with the public service and am new to the process, looking for some reassurance please from anyone who has been there before. I don't have a lot of spare time to prepare so just want to make sure I focus on the right areas!

I understand that the main focus is on examples of core competencies but is it likely that the interviewers will also ask the usual strengths/weaknesses type interview questions..those more generic questions?

Would there be general questions about the public service, how much background reading should I squeeze in, also would I be quizzed on specific financial regulations?

Also the people on the selection board who assessed application forms, are they the same people who will conduct the interviews?
