    Hi

I have a box in my hotpress that buzzes a LOT. It's quite loud, and I can't sleep with the constant hum from it. It sounds like a motor on it's way out? I've no idea. What is it and who would I call to look at it, an electrician, a plumber, an exorcist???

I can't increase the photo size on my phone but it looks like the control box for your alarm. If you have an alarm that is.

We have one exactly like it, Sleeper is right, it is an Alarm wiring centre.

Thanks everyone, thought it might be plumbing related since that's all I know about hotpresses!

I'll have to call the alarm guy so, my head is melted with it

Its the mains transformer thats buzzing.

First thing you do is open the box(you will need your codes) and check the battery.
Chances are the battery is so bad, its shorting out internally, and overloading the transformer.

Otherwise, the other ways to quiet this noise is reposition or remount the transformer. Maybe use some soft material under it.
Its a bit hit and miss, you may not be able to get it satisfactory ever.
