Is anyone in the same boat or maybe can advise is this normal? I applied for a herd number the end of December. Had inspection nearly 2 months ago but still have not had any contact about getting a herd number issued. Have contacted local guy who inspected and he says it's out of his control it's all up in kildare now. When I contact kildare I just get put through to a voice mail that says they are dealing with herd number applications as they come in. Is an over 4 month wait not excessive? Does anyone know who else I can contact?

It took the DVO in Cavan over 6 months to add my name to the herd number here. So in the scheme of things 4 months is probably standard enough.

Can you call in in person, sometimes it works, other times it makes no difference

Oh make sure you submit your BPS form, herd Number can be added later

Unfortunately cant- I'm in limerick and it's out of limerick ' s hands once they did the inspection- it's all been centralised to kildare.
I've been told I need herd number to apply for BPS or anything now that it's all online - is this incorrect?

No you can submit a BPS application before the deadline as herd number to follow. Could be best getting an Ag consultant to submit the application
