Birdcage veil stockists?

I got a tealength dress sorted last week. I'm now trying to source a birdcage veil. Any recommendations of where to go would be greatly appreciated. I wouldn't mind getting it online, but would like to start by trying some on to get an idea of what suits me. It might be easier to match it up to the dress by buying from a shop.

Where are you located? By all means, try them on in bridal shops, but they are SO expensive. I actually made my own for my wedding this month and it wasn't too difficult. I found the ones in the shops very feathery/ sparkly/ loud so I was able to make one to my tastes for a fraction of the price of the bridal shop ones. The shop I got my dress altered in rents them out for €30 too (north dublin).

I've just been googling making one after checking out lovely ones online, my heart near stopped when I saw the price!€200+. My dress is lace so I need a simpler veil. I'm up north but getting married Limerick direction. I hadn't thought of renting which would be another option. Making my own is looking increasingly attractive!

I got so many compliments on mine and felt great saying 'I made it'! The one I fell in love with in a bridal shop was €120... mine cost under €30 to make but really set the dress off (also tea length) and I could choose how loud or sparkly I wanted it! It took a couple of hours but was so satisfying. Do it!

Did you get a comb with the embellishments and just add the veil?

No, I bought the base hat bit, sewed on some lace I had at home, glued on a brooch I liked, then added the veil and glued a comb from another clip on. The veil went on last as I wanted it to sit a certain way.

I wasn't sure about eBay. I've had great luck on eBay with my dress, I got it for a quarter of the price as a sample! It's new with not a mark and tags etc. If it was even tried on I can't find any evidence! But the seller was a shop I had been in touch with previously off eBay as I would have loved to get a dress from them anyway, so I was confident enough in their reputation. The prices are not too bad on eBay for the veils, but not many gave the option to return if it doesn't suit. Decisions decisions...

Oh I hand to thought of sample sales for the veil, which is daft saying as my dress was a sample. I might contact the place I got my dress and see if they are selling any.

Willow and Wild in Waterford city has amazing ones, I got mine (birdcage and headpiece) and my wedding earrings there, the girl who runs it is lovely and my mum also got her hat - it's a gorgeous little shop

That's good to know. I'd been looking on their website. It's good to hear you were happy with it.
