I am open to correction on this but I believe that this allowance is now gone. However, my question is when it was in operation did it have to be a 2.1 degree?

Looks like it's still there but only kicks in when you're off probation, so it'll be take two years after starting before you get the pay bonus.

Sorry now, I've a silly question.

Say if you have your 3rd level degree from UCC / UCD etc. but didn't have the LC grade B and 2 grade C at honours level in your english, irish, maths - are you still entitled to the increments? Or would you just get one less?

I presume you do get them and not the additional one for LC? Am I correct in saying this?

    Thanks

Daisy, that is covered in the link that lockstep has posted. Details for both sets of increments are linked by the phrase "These are payable in addition to the following:-"

I have a question on this what if your degree is from the North will that still count it says in the link about the 26 counties surely a degree from the University in the North should count also

I know, I've read the link that lockstep posted but I was just confused with that exact sentence.. "In addition to the following" - meaning is it a separate increment or you have to have it in addition with your college degree in order to get those increments.

this is from the 2008 campaign and on page 16, it says it's either one increment for the Leaving Cert or three for a degree.

Thanks Lockstep - I get it now

Anyone have a link to the original document. The one previously posted doesn't work. Also it is from 2008 so probably doesn't apply but is there any document with this info from 2013/when the pay structure was changed.

Look up the GRA website. They are after improving it, and there's an area dedicated to Garda Trainees.

Just want to make sure so. If I have a 3 year degree after 2 years I'd move up to year 6 and every year move on to the next point. So after 5 years service I'd be on the pay of year 8. Wonder is that the same for sergeant do you move on 3 increment places. Don't qualify for the additional increment as I didn't do all honours in the three subjects mentioned.
