A quick look on the motor tax website:

    https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/menu.do?page=offline

Fill out form RF111 - Change in car particulars:

Same thing happened with my last Golf. They also had it down as a DSG when it wasn't. I never bothered changing it, tbh.

Seeing as it's a NEW car, did you go back to the salesperson/garage and ask them to sort it out for you?

Look on carzone, loads are registered like that. Same with the Seat Leon for some reason. Fill out the change of particulars form but it won't make any difference in the grand scheme of things.

I had a jeep that was silver. On the book it was gold. Got stopped by the cops before and had to explain the colour mix up after they had run the plate. They said it was grand it makes no difference to them once they had the reg. Fair annoying tho but I didn't bother changing it.

Having the wrong car model is one thing, but the wrong colour would also show on a tax disc, I wonder how the Gardaí would look at that?

Yeah I had the wrong colour and the guard said it didn't matter to them.

Best to get it correct, NCT centre can be picky on this like this, same with insurance companies if you have a claim.

I can imagine alright insurance companies using it as an excuse not to pay out. Regarding the NCT, it went through that twice in my ownership with zero issues.

I had the same, the hatchback registered as an estate. I spotted it on the screen in the tax office when I went to pay the first tax on it. I said it was wrong, and pointed out the car in the car park. It was then changed on the system before the first tax was issued.

Just checked the last Golf I had registered, and that is down as

    5 Doors / Estate / Manual - but it's 100% a 5 door hatch.

It's an issue with the way the statistical code's have been loaded up to the Revenue system, but I think the issue is with Revenue rather than the manufacturer's, as there's a lot of discrepancies with various different manufacturers.

I had a car through 2 nct's before they noticed a typo (two digits transposed) in the vin number.

Then they insisted it be corrected before they would let it pass the next NCT

My BMW 3 series coupe is down as a saloon on the log book, was originally a UK reg. It has been through the NCT a good few times without issue, but the next time could be the one that causes a problem.

I have never changed it obviously, but the first time I insured it, the insurance company had it on the insurance cert as a saloon, it being an autofill from the reg. That was a more serious error which I did change with them.
