    I'd appreciate any help here guys.
    So a farmer constructed a 36m2 extension to a milking parlour, within a farmyard complex.
    I am trying to regularise the planning for him now.
    He seems to be within the guidelines of the type 3 structure (see attached image).
    He needs proof of this for the Dept. of Ag.
    How do I go about this.
    I have many applications made over the last few years, but all were full planning, retention or application for exemption.
    How do I prove a structure was exempt?
    Thanks.

    Apply for a Section 5 Declaration from your Local Authority.

    Can I do this after the structure has been built?
    Do I need to draw up the plans as normal and will they come out to inspect the site?
    Thanks for the help.

    Yes you can make the request after the structure has been built.

    A Section 5 should include:

    * Contact details
    * Address and description of site, including site location map
    * the question upon which the Declaration is sought
    * Drawings, plans, photos, and any other particulars necessary to identify and describe the matter to which the question relates
    * Relevant planning history

    Check with you Local Authority in case i havent included something.i'm unsure whether the Local Authority are obliged to undertake a site visit. They sometimes dont even make a decision!

    4 weeks to make a decision and going for a section 5 is the way to do it. As previously said check with LA re their requirements
