Mk 1 Focus coolant leak

Hi all. After work today there was a quite large puddle of pink liquid underneath my car. I looked under and the sump was wet with this liquid. I'm pretty sure it's coolant and today is the first day that it's appeared. The car went through the NCT last week and the tester never commented on any leak, and I always keep an eye on the car as it's nearly 16 years old. So I did a bit of research and one area to look seems to be the thermostat casing. Sure enough when I get my fingers on it, it's slightly wet at the back. I cleaned off the sump and let the car sit for a while now and there hasn't been a drop since, despite a significant puddle earlier. Is it safe to drive like this? The coolant level is still at the max point.

Usually either a thermostat housing or water pump would be the main cause around there if you look up under the thermostat housing you will see the pink track running down from it.

Thanks Martin, I think it's the thermostat housing, but I suppose it could be the water pump as they are right next to each other. Thing is, I've had the water pump and timing belt replaced about 15,000 miles ago so I hope it's not that. Would it be safe enough to monitor it for a few days just making sure it doesn't get worse? If i's just the thermostat housing I reckon I can replace that myself.
