It broke Creedons heart when he was moved from the 3pm slot to late date in 06, Imagine if ray darcy was moved to late date ?:D:eek:

I remember that well, I used to listen to his afternoon show every day at work until there was a big revamp of the Radio 1 schedule in September 2006 and Creedon was shafted.

I reckon we're safe enough as far as D'arcy is concerned. I'd say he is in bed at 10:30pm on a school night, so he can be up at 6am for his jog, followed by a big bowl of porridge ;)

Fiachna has a gig tonight so I'm hoping that means Lilian is on duty.

Is late date pre-recorded tonight?. cathal is just linking the songs. Dont think I've heard any requests or texts. And the sound is very flat.

Definitely was just voice tracked .

And definitely shows cathal works best with audience interaction and song requests cause the song selection last night was just crap

I'm sorry, but that's just not on.

Fair enough, Cathal could be busy doing something else, but that's why RTE (and others) have a stable of stand-in presenters who can fit into the slot.

If they're just going to start phoning it in (i.e. voice tracking) then they might as well go the whole hog and switch to RTE Gold overnight (as they're doing on some nights now anyway after 2).

A pre recording would tally given Shay Byrne is covering for Ronan, and Lillian is covering for Shay so there must have been a decision to pre record rather than use another stand in.

Why don't radio 1 use some of the "oap" weekenders on 2fm as cover presenters ?

Back live again tonight. Made a mistake with the name of the newsreader but corrected himself afterwards. It was nice of Roderic O'Connor to take time out from his painting to read the news.....

Ah isn't it great playing bingo with Fiachna on a blustery Thursday night.

Playing his old pal Colm Mac An Iomaire - check
Mention of his wife's chocolate shop - check

Expecting the Full (Hot) House (Flowers) any moment now!

It's a wonder he didn't play The Rose twice tonight to compensate for the fact that we will almost certainly not have the "privilege" of listening to it on the show tomorrow night.

I'm so looking forward to Lilian's show this evening.

I think we should record all 'The Rose' plays on this thread. As I've said on a number of occasions already, it's annoying when he can't get around to playing a tune that's requested by a listener but he can always fit 'The Rose' in.

I think it was last week he played a live Flowers track and after one of the (many) texters told him how much he loved hearing the band live, Fiachna told him not to worry, there would be plenty of gigging this year. So for the divilmint, and also out of frustration, i lobbed over an oul text along the lines of "Fiachna, there are quite a few Late Date listeners who would love it if your band gigged every Friday and Saturday night of the year." Disappointingly, he did not deem it worthy of reading it out.

For someone, who has been made a permanent host of those two nights, he won't appear to be that permanent, if he is going to be gigging so much. But, at least we'll hear more of Lillian. No doubt when she signs off tonight, she'll either give the usual "I'm not sure when I'll be back on Late Date, but I'm sure I'll pop up somewhere. You know yourself!" Or, she'll give a few dates of when she'll be next on LD. At least we'll have a better idea of when we'll hear her again.
