    Hi there,

can anyone give me a rough estimate for a full house re-wire?

It's a 3 bed semi in Dublin, floor area approx. 80m2

    Thanks in advance

Far more details would be required to give a rough estimate.
It is a bit like asking for a rough estimate of what a second hand petrol car would cost.

What sort of details would you need?

It's a house I'm considering buying but just trying to get an idea of costs associated with doing it up

Here are a few to get you going:
Construction of walls (timber frame, block, partition), chasing required?
    Will the house be occupied?
One light per room or multiple (such as downlighters).
Data network (CAT5 or CAT6 and number of points)
    Number of sockets per room.
Instantaneous shower? If so how many.
    Wire for alarm ?
Expensive 2nd fix materials (sockets, switches etc.)?
Wire for satellite? If so how many rooms? Sky + to all?
    Utility room?
Heating controls? (3 channel timeclock, stats, zone valves)
    Eclectic hob? Electric oven?
    Garden shed wiring?
    Garage wiring?
    Outside lighting details.
    Bathroom fans?
    Expensive lights supplied by owner?
ESB meter box to be installed and meter to be moved?
    Surround sound system? Speaker wiring?

HI - I was just given three different quotes for a full rewire of a 2-bed mid-terrace house in Cork City. It's for a re-wire, new sockets/switches and pendants, new attic light and downstairs WC light and a wired fire alarm - €5900 inclusive of VAT.

The second guy quoted me €2700 (which 3 people told me was way too cheap in a bad way) and the third was €7000. That might help you gauge costs. I'm likely going with the guy for €5900.

    As 2011
    plus, as a layman:
getting earthing system up to scratch
    cctv wiring
    new consumer unit
    .
    charging point for electric car:cool:
