Water Pressure Issue

I ran out of oil last week and the water pressure stat in the hotpress dropped below 1 bar. I opened the valve last night to raise the pressure but it went up to 3 bar and i don't know how to drop it back down? The thread in the valve to open it is a bit worn.

This morning i noticed there is water overflowing from the overflow valve where the boiler is located. The boiler is working but this happened before and i ended up having to replace the pump in the boiler so i want to sort it before it becomes an issue.

    All advice would be appreciated....

Could just drain a bit out of the drain-down point if there's to much in the system. Or out a bleed point on a rad but that would be very messy.

Thanks. Don't know much about it. Is the drain down point in the boiler where the water is (still) flowing from?

Your system is way over pressurised and, from the sound of things, it's causing the safety valve to open.
Probably best to get an Oil Boiler service tech to take a look at things as you most likely need a new safety valve now and the cause of the original pressure loss looked at.

Btw. Running out of oil didn't have anything to do with your water pressure.

Unless you live in a 3 story house, 1 bar is fine. Make sure the valve you used to increase pressure is closed and bleed a rad until you get it back to one bar. Might mean a few wet towels.
After that check to see if pressure valve still leaks. If it does, then try snapping it shut a few times. If that doesn't work, then it needs replacing. Whatever you do don't blank it off. It is a safety device.

Thanks for the helpful responses. It seems the safety valve popped so that's why i couldn't stop the flow. Got the Service Guy out who sorted the issue.

    Thanks All :)
