What music do you listen to when running/jogging, if any?

I usually like to listen to the radio, but that's not an option on my new phone, any recommendations what to listen to to keep a good pace?

My personal preference is no music - but sometimes I enjoy it.

If you have spotify, it has a running app...you can set your cadence - pick a playlist and off you go. I think is is on the premium version however.

None - I find it makes it easier to keep paces under control during easy runs and concentrate on hitting target paces during faster work.

Each to their own though !

Don't listed to music, just podcasts on training runs.

Obviously don't have anything playing when racing though.

It depends... what's popular at the moment, all time faves, location of run (type, terrain), distance, sense of occasion....

Who could not be inspired by Bowie's Heroes running around Mitte or Kreuzberg Berlin for example?

Generally, I like longer-playing tracks with a solid rhythm. I rarely change artists or albums during a run (even if that means being on a loop), E.g. David Bowie's Station to Station Deluxe version is awesome with a 15 min title track live and about 4 minutes for guitar feedback as an intro!

I can remember what I was listening to by most marathons too:

Dublin 1: Bon Jovi's greatest hits (God, the shame of it)
Dublin 2: Duran Duran (first album remix)
San Francisco 1: Frankie Goes to Hollywood greatest hits and remixes
San Francisco 2: Daft Punk Alive 2007
Florence 1: Grace Jones Compass Point Sessions
Florence 2: Hot Chip Made in the Dark
    Amsterdam: Duran Duran Paper Gods
Paris: Kraftwerk Tour De France (Well... as you do)
    Milan: Giorgio Moroder ...

And so on... so it varies...

The "official" Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris 2016 playlist is good, worth checking out maybe:

I've used Spotify Running, but neither the track selections nor the cadence control thing did it for me. Neither did Cruise Control and confederate apps. YMMV however with the UX (user experience).

BTW, Audiobooks are also popular with some long distance runners. Never tried it.

Generally just listen to Podcasts. Good for just drifting in and out of as my concentration levels vary!

That said, nothing as awkward as spontaneously laughing as you run past people. Didn't bother stopping to explain!

When I do listen to music, I usually stick on Ministry of Sounds Running Trax albums...

No music or anything for me, save for the very occasional long run where I'll put one earbud in and listen to some kpop. Otherwise I prefer the sound of my running, birds chirping, and jaguar's roaring. You know, the usual city sounds.

i listen to basically anything that is upbeat, like you would hear on a drunken night out and actually want to dance too. I have playlist on iPod of various DJ's and artists from Tiesto, Calvin Harris, David Guetta and a couple of oldies. ah and of course Eye of the Tiger :)

Lol. I burst out laughing once listening to a podcast while out in public. It was one of those ones where you try hard not to, which just makes it worse.

Listen to audio books on easy runs and spotify on the speedier ones. Usually one of the top hits playlists

    Upbeat and Fast Music
Some 90s Upbeat and Fast Music
Some techno mixes but only if they are good and tend to be Upbeat and Fast Music

I find they help me start and keep going.

HARD ROCK. When I'm really finding it difficult, I find it really helps to have a rock song that really picks up my emotions to dig deep.

Motivational Songs from Rocky, Karate Kid, Transformers.

Don't listen to music while running myself but if I did I'd certainly give this a go...

I love listening to music when running, I have a short commute to work so it's the only chance I get to listen to music. I like the Ministry of Sound running trax albums, have a few of them downloaded. I don't have spotify but I used soundcloud (have to watch the data allowance though!) I listen to playlists from Bodyfirst Nutrition and dj's local to my hubbie's area: DJ Shay, Brian McDaid and a Friel fella who presents on Highland radio. Liking my dance music from the 90's & 00's.

I don't listen to music...but sometimes I'll have Underworlds "Dark and along (Dark Train)" in my head...does that count?

Usually no headphones at all. Occasionally on the treadmill I listen to a podcast or two - marathon talk or one of David Harvey's brilliant interpretations of the old masters ;).

Sometimes crack and listen to music. +1 on uvox's Bowie listens, actually had Station to Station on a canal run recently and it was fabulous (I'll pass on the Duran Duran though ;)).

House and techno mixes mainly. Although I don't listen to music while running so much anymore.

For easy runs I just stick my phone on random and listen to it. I have put my own favourite songs on it about1000 tracks covering everything fom the 50s to today. Nothing like singing along to my 70s disco hits while plodding along.

Sessions and faster runs I do music free.
