Hi... my wife and I going through a one year trial separation and she is currently renting a holiday home from a friend in Wexford, but cant settle there.
She is in her 50s and has a small quiet King Charles Cavalier.
Anyone know of any where in Dublin , preferably south side that is offering a house or apartment share.
Guaranteed rent payments in advance and security deposit.
Entering this here as she is not computer literate

    Many Thanks

Apartments are pretty much a no no with a dog, it's typically against the rules to have a dog in one.

Dog will also work against her in houses unless they're owner occupied by a dog lover.

Demand for accommodation is very high in Dublin, is there any way you could take the dog to give your wife a better chance of finding a place.

    This is defeatist.

Ring around, respond to ads etc.. somebody won't mind having a dog join the household, and some may actually welcome it.

I am sure in such a hard time especially, your wife will do anything she can to keep the dog, which is completely understandable.

However, if she is in Wexford then she will probably be more likely to find an understanding landlord that wont be so completely against pets. Plenty of people have them in apartments and can manage to keep them clean and have been doing so for many years! Unfortunately in Dublin you will be less likely to find such attitudes.

Alternatively what about North Wicklow? Bray/Greystones/Kilcoole/Enniskerry?
Try daft (it has a search function to check if pets are allowed) and and also facebook for the community pages there. People are very helpful in my experience of these groups. Just keep asking around!

    Best of luck .

It's well known and discussed regularly in here that firstly most apartments don't allow pets and secondly it's almost impossible to rent with a pet (and rightly so really as why would a LL or house owner want the extra wear and tear when they can pick from the queue of people looking for the room/house without a pet).

Had a quick look on daft, in Dublin of over 1000 house/flat shares only 38 have ticked pets allowed. Of over 1200 rentals, only 34 have pets allowed ticked.

Maybe there's more who are willing to take pets but only 3% of landlords are openly willing to look for tenants with pets.

Okay, well then you just suggest giving up and not bothering?

No, you should ring around and ask.
