Battery Cut Off - Disconnect

    Hi

We have a 2nd car in the house is a 2000 micra 1L, the issue is that is hardly ever used, maybe once a month or less. The problem is that every time we want to use it the battery is dead as gets drain, also when it gets driven is only for maybe 20-30 min so the battery does not get to charge it properly.
What I'm doing bow is once a week or when I remember I start the car and let it run for about 30 min or more, so waste of petrol too.

I was talking to a friend who mention that you can use a Battery Cut Off/Disconnect, so the battery does not get drain as not connected, I searched google and found battery no problem looks easy to use so I could install myself.

Anyone has any ideas or sugestions on them, What to avoid, etc? Something I could install myself. Searched adverts and look like they are about €10 - €15.

Is it correct that it only goes on the Negative? Could I put on the Positive too or is it ok just with the negative?

    Thanks

Any particular reason you can't just disconnect the neg cable instead?

I could but if it had something like that no tools would be needed, I think it will be easier something like that as just need to unscrew, so the wife could do it, if she had to disconnect she probably won't do it most of the times.

Solar trickle charger might be an option, leave it on dashboard and plug in to 12v socket, check that there's a connection to battery with ignition off (assuming that car is outside in daylight).

why not install a quick-release clamp on one of the terminals? no tools required then....

I've a solar charger wired to my bike battery, wouldn't be that difficult to get a cable from the battery into the car.
