Alopecia

Does anybody else here have alopecia?

Last November I was getting ready for a night out and I noticed something on my legs. My legs were nearly hairless and I thought back to when I last shaved my legs and it was May. My legs should have been much hairer. I started to feel my legs and there were complete smooth patches.

I had to take a course of medicine for four months last summer prescribed by my doctor for another issue. Finished the course of medicine in September. A possible but rare side effect of that medicine was hair loss. So I put it down to that and I wasn't worried or stressed.

In and around the same time, days or a week or two later I noticed a complete bald patch with my pubic hair. It was probably there around the time I noticed hair loss on my legs but I never noticed. This one got me worried and I went to my doctor.

We both put it down to the medicine I was taking and doctor told me to give it some months and wait it out.

It's now April. The hair hasn't grown back on my legs or pubic area.

I've always been a hairy woman including having hair on my arms. I can't say I've noticed bald patches on my arms but hair has definitely thinned out on my arms.

As for the hair on my head. My hair has always been thick and full. There might be a slight thinning out but I can't be certain about this. I still have a good head of hair. I've been growing my hair long for the past 11 years with regular trims. Back around 2013 I started to trim my own hair. About half an inch every 10 weeks or so to get rid of the split ends and to continue growing my hair long because hairdressers were chopping away too easily. The longest my hair ever was down as far as my bra strap and currently it's shorter than this. I haven't noticed any new length in my hair and if anything my hair is getting shorter a few inches above my bra strap. Is it possible for hair on the head to stop growing and not experience bald patches?

Hoping to chat with others who have alopecia.
