It's looking like a reasonable bet an Irish team will make it. So I am thinking of going. What say all of ye? Tickets I presume are numerous.

(actually if it turns out there is interest maybe rename this travel / accommodation / tickets discussion)

It's in Scotland which actually has the highest per-capita rate of Scottish people of any country in the world. But despite that if the final is Leinster-Connacht I think I'll grab a ticket and jump on a flight up

Yeah, myself and a few mates have been talking about going for a couple of months and it's looking more and more likely we will. Murrayfield has a huge capacity, 65,000 or something, so tickets should be plentiful and cheap.

Murrayfield is a terrible place for the final, it's stupid.

Murrayfield is to rugby what murrey mints are to smoke detectors.

Otherwise I won't hear a bad thing said about the place!

Fun fact: Murrayfield was recently renamed to Murrayfield in honour of Andy Murray.

Booked flights a couple of weeks ago but haven't bought tickets yet

Where can match tickets be bought?

I'll be going, regardless of participants and it sure as shít won't be Munster.
I'm proper local in that area now.

Saying that if, for whatever reason I can't make it, keep the noise down where you're passing the door.

Looked into going, decent chance of Leinster being there as well, but flights are crazy expensive for some reason. So TV will have to do!

That's not great planning from the organisers.

Check flights to Glasgow, it's about an hour on the train and not expensive for a ticket.

Places to stay are really expensive

Just waiting on my buddy in Edinburgh to confirm couch availability and I'm booking! :D

  • It's a bank holiday weekend o'er here so Edinburgh will be fairly full no matter.

Being a bank holiday it has ruined my chances of going unless I am arsed driving. Trains on bank holiday weekends are not exactly aplenty.

Isn't there a Marathon on in the city too?

That was an issue raised at the time Edinburgh was chosen

Argh, have a nephew's first communion that day. I'm telling ye, the meal better be over by 5.30 if Connacht are playing or else...

That's always the case for Edinburgh. Love the city but finding a room is always hard. Stay in Glasgow and suck it up.

The late flight back on Ryanair is 9:10pm. Since the game kicks off at 5pm, you'd have to leave the stadium quickly after the trophy presentation.

If the match goes to extra time then your in edinburgh for the night.

As a Scot, with a fair bit of experience of Edinburgh hotels I can recommend staying a little further out of the town as the prices can be extortionate. It's the same all year round as the city is such a big tourist draw, so the Marathon being on won't be having that much effect.

Places like Livingston/Bathgate/Linlithgow to the west, Musselburgh/Haddington to the east and Dunfermline to the north all offer much better value and have good train links (20-30 minute journey times) or can be reached for "about" 30 quid in a taxi. To the south there are places like Penicuik and Dalkeith which are similar to those mentioned before or go into Borders rugby country and stay at Galashiels or Melrose. The new train service will get you to Edinburgh in less than an hour. Hope this helps anyone who fancies making the trip.

I'm hoping to get up from the Midlands with my boys to cheer on a Glasgow win and to save money I'll be staying at my Mum's :0)

Hoping to go myself but might have something on that weekend. Waiting to get confirmation. The plan is to fly into Glasgow and check out places on AirBnB. Should be able to find somewhere fairly handy, even if it isn't central.

    Re: Semi Finals
Is the Friday night match 1v4 and Sat night 2v3 or other way around?
