I'm a fan of GP4000S too. Whatever you choose, if you are using them all the time you should check them regularly, particularly before races - if your commute routes are anything like mine your tyres will tend to get exposed to a lot of crap on the roads and you won't want anything embedded in the tyres heading into a race, punctures at speed are no fun.

I wouldn't rule out 700x25 tyres either, assuming your bike has clearance for them. At the right pressure (i.e. not too high) they are claimed to roll faster, they'll provide better grip, and they'll be (marginally) less prone to pinch punctures too. GP4000S are available in both 23mm and 25mm.

I usually use gp4000 but have had a set of the slightly lower priced plain 'Grand Prix' on one bike for the last year. They seem very similar to the gp4000 but slightly heavier. Chain reaction have a great deal on them at the minute at 47 euro the pair.

On my commuting road bike I have gt4000 on the front and gator hardshell on the back...both 23mm continentals.

I'm also a big fan of the Continental GP4000s and always use them on the road bikes. However I do find them a little fragile for my daily single speed commute (the Rock Road in Dublin is a mess!). I swopped to Continetal 4 Seasons on that bike about 6-8 months ago and I've been puncture free since! They seem to be a good compromise between the 4000s and Gatorskins - Roll well but with improved protection!

These are just as good as the Conti GP 4000s and a fractio of the price

My 2 cents, gatorskins are fairly indestructible but a bit twitchy cornering in the wet at quite high speed. 4 seasons are grippy and roll well but I had a half dozen pinch flats in three months, all at different pressures, above, below and at recommended pressure.
GP 4000s II are really good, worth the money, did have a side wall puncture once from a weird piece of metal on the side of the road, I'm putting that down to bad luck.

Gatorskins for training / commuting and GP4000s for racing, my 2c.
