Hi all at present have porcelain tiles in hall running into kitchen/dining room but find them a nightmare to keep & cold, 43sq yards, I want to take them up but wondering have anyone good ideas what to replace with like would you put a marble tile just inside the front door & then wooden floor & the same marble the in the kitchen area with the wood floor. Any ideas welcomed as it's just wrecking my head at the moment, also I have a wheelchair user in the house so that's another reason why I want the tiles up as in the evening he likes to get around on the floor & I feel the tiles are so cold

What's your budget? I've got wooden floor effect tiles in my kitchen, but if I'd had a healthier budget when I was putting them down, I'd have looked at putting a really high quality vinyl all over the ground floor- the likes of amtico, karndean etc. They look great, but it's very pricey (I can't remember how much, from my research). There's a lengthy guarantee, so once down, you wouldn't have to consider changing it for a long time.

Hoping I can do it on 2k, do you think that will cover it or am I being unrealistic with a budget of that amount

Flooring is really a "how long is a piece of string" thing- you'll get it done for 2k with something! It's really just a case of deciding what you want, and pricing around.

removing 43 sq m of tiles, making good floor and then reflooring all for 46 euro a sq m.......
Some guys charge 15 euro a sq meter for just the labour of laying so thats 650 gone.
    skip maybe 180

The 2k is just for buying & laying the wood floor, I've someone to take up the tiles & level the floor. She fingers crossed I'll be able to get it done for 2k. I'm off to look around at lunch time so will update on prices I get from the shops later

Ok had a busy Saturday & my head is still wrecked from trying to decide, the shop man recommend balterio oak laminated but bit iffy to put it in kitchen/dining room , yes would love it in hall& sitting room , price for floor & fitting €1890 add another €200 approx for skirting & fitting. Has anyone fitted laminate in kitchen, would you recommend it or would you hold off for another 2months until you have enough to get the engineered wood floor instead.

That price for balterio is insane.

Its definitely a better option for a kitchen than an engineered floor though. We would recommend pushing the quality up to at least balterio's AC5 12mm product, which would still be insanely cheaper than you've been quoted.

There used be semi-solid in my Bedroom in my mothers house (is that engineered?). She had it taken up when I was on holidays once (I can't remember why- something to do with pipes), but she replaced it with baltiero oak. I didn't actually notice any difference when I got back.

That's 60sq yards underlay & fitting 12mm AC4 for sitting room hall kitchen/diner . Do you still think it's an insane price as if so I'll have another look around at wkend, hoping to get it done first week of June said want to have it all sorted by end of the month

Yeah thought the baltiero was very realistic
