    remind me, what's a DVD?

Everyone should have at least a single dvd in their house - to at least to check when you buy things like xb's and playstations that they are fully functional

The star wars one is a collectable as well

Collectible? In what way? The bonus features on this release are pretty disappointing.

The cynic in me says if I buy this release this it'll become part of a collection because I'll feel I will have to buy the much better release that they will obviously put out next year. So I'll have a collection of the same movie.

what's the cynical bit? they've already said there will be another release (3D release which is';t available in this round). what you are talking about so is your inabilitty to not buy the future edition if you buy this one. that's totally your choice, so i don't get where the cynical bit is.

There'll be another non-3d release at some point with better bonus features. Not cynicism, just being realistic. Sorry if you're offended.

The thing people like me in the sticks need, to watch films, if we don't want the thing to pause every few seconds.

not offended at all. cynical would be if they claimed there was never going to be another release, they've already said there will be, so its fact. you don't need to be cynical.

if you've got the patience to skip this release and wait i definitely would. the next release will be better .i rarely watch extras so i have the targey exclusive that was released in the US being brought back for me today. if you think you're going to want the extras, and can wait, then do

No, they have stated there will be a 3D release. That is the fact.

I'm stating that my belief is there will be another 2D release with extras that are not part of this release - the same has happened with practically every DVD release of the OT. Therefore it would be incorrect to call this release 'collectable' which is what richardw001 called it, I would call it the 'bare bones' version.

the 3d release will have a 2d version as well....

Disney Store still selling the bluray instore for 17.49 (without pre-ordering), but they have sold out of dark side sleeve versions.

Also comes with a free massive reusable Force Awakens shopper bag and a 20% discount voucher good to middle of June.

Probably the best deal out there at the minute (future better editions aside, but us LOTR fans were well used to that).

Discs are the same as any other. The 'bonus' content is accessed by way of a code from the Disney website.

The US blu-ray contains a separate DVD copy and a digital HD download, so we Europeans got shafted.

I have seen people say on the net that it is region-free but I wouldn't be bothered personally, waiting around for weeks and hoping to jaysus it actually plays when it arrives...

Got it in Tower for 19.99. What a film. I know some people turn their noses up at physical media but this is what Blu-ray and 5.1 surround were made for.

The US Blu-Ray is region free, the. DVD that comes with it would be region locked! You potentially also run the risk of getting hit with a customs charge! Plus we all know that this will be released again probably a deluxe 3D version with additional extras in a year or two. I'll pick up one over here from whoever has the best price.

Ha! Didn't think of that. It was the digital version that I'd be interested in anyway.

Debated waiting for the 3D version but I presume that will arrive just in time for Christmas...

But i took your tip, as i got it in local Supervalu for €20 today, plenty left & only the Light Side there, as that's all they had, i was told there was no Dark Side, (obviously in denial) :p
