Is there a 2016 open water calendar schedule available yet?

Be great if someone could post when it does become available

Ah leave it out, I'll be under the 7% :).... Why weren't you there? Dublin SC did well.

The boys did well alright. I'll be out later today in portmarnock.

I wasn't thinking of 7%, I was more thinking SOTY

The water was a lot warmer than I'd have expected at Killiney today, a great day for a race. My first of the season, love these races, much more fun than the wetsuit Triathlons I usually do.

Well done mad m, first bus pass home today?! Congrats!

I got there very late and just made reg, and dashed off for a long run straight away after. Came 104th off 5 mins, just happy to be swimming bareback again. I'll stick round longer at Curracloe and say hi if you're there.

Great season so far and already flying in.

Anyone doing howth this weekend? I think I'll leave it this year, lack of safety boats and organisation in previous years has lost my support.

Looking forward to the Eddie Heron though, a nice long swim sorts the men from the boys!

You did well on Saturday at TSC swim. Yeah I'm doing The Island. Haven't done it in two years I think. My only reservation is its high tide at 5pm and race is at 3pm, going to be tough. Love the Eddie Heron. But Easten bay swim on Saturday is a good one also.

The Island swim is on at 3pm.....Ireland match on at 2pm!!!! Aghhhhh!

Yea I'll be down. I've done it the last few years, a nice swim but a weird handicap system.

This year it is going with the Leinster Open Sea format as regards handicaps so first home in each category(skins/wetsuit male/female) will be the winner.

Lough Lene - RACE CANCELLED - Saturday July 2
High winds there and forecast not expected to improve, so Meath Masters are cancelling. Please pass on to fellow club members who intended to travel!!!

Just seen this on the Leinster Open Sea facebook page.

I wasn't far off your handicap...well done on getting placed. Once Chris Byran was there it was a given he would win really..

Well done to everyone who took part yesterday in the Thomond Swim fantastic race I think if Chris had a handicap of an hour he still would have won some machine. Well done slinky 2000 on third place off 16 minutes the handicappers did a fair enough job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,016 ✭✭✭mad m

Long race today, Frank Carroll won it. Well done again to Freddio getting 3rd off 9:30.

Yea was a great race. Super location, great conditions and decent weather, and ran without fault.

Handicap system was much better this year, even though they seemed harsh (ie me on 16 minutes) I think they where spot on because of the wetsuits and men and ladies combined.

I couldn't believe when Chris flew past me at the turning buoy, he was absolutely flying along, a well deserved win.

Hi all, not sure if this is best place, but just moved back up to dub after years in the midlands. Looking for groups headin for swims in north county Dublin, malahide or donabate is ideal??

Get in touch with Eastern Bay Swim club...they are mainly an outdoor swimming club based on the north side.

Ok next week is Liffey swim and here are my predictions who I think may have a good shot at winning it.
    1. Sean Nolan
    2. Bernard Sweeney
    3. Mick O Kane

I suppose it all depends on what handicap they get. There is lot of people missing it and numbers are down from last year because it is earlier than previous years, but the date was advertised on Swim Leinster FB page back in November 2015.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 648 ✭✭✭Freddio

Connor Turner is suspiciously slow this season

I heard a few people talking about Mick O Kane alright over the weekend.

I think after last weekends swim I'm fecked for the liffey.

Cian Connaughton is one to watch, he's in serious form this year but hasn't done too many swims to be noticed so his handicap hasn't been too bad for now.

Let's see what Thursday has in for us.

Stevie Doyle has a seriously low handicap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,501 ✭✭✭secman

Just had a look at the handicaps, familiar names still around... Did it myself close on 20 times , last one about 6 to 7 years ago. A great occasion, loved the whole day..the build up...the slagging... the swim.. Mulligans...the afters....the long night..... great memories.
Safe swim to all of you and enjoy the whole day... no excuses looking for the buoys ;)

    Barry Dunne.....2:30....WOW

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,287 ✭✭✭slinky2000

wow is right, that's a low handicap for Barry, started the year on 5:45 too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53 ✭✭somespud

In the visitors section myself this year couldn't get enough qualifiers in with the earlier date for the Liffey. Handicapper was a little kinder this year getting away a minute earlier but still 45 seconds after you Slinky2000. I suppose its all about taken part.
