Hi all....wouldn't be the best computer wise but have taken plunge and registered with Agfood.ie as have to for sending off applications this year as in Young Farmer Scheme,Glas etc.

Was looking at it last night, was wondering if you buy in a cow from Mart and she is transferred into your herd profile....can you check her calving details?...I see you can see the number of calves she had and go in and look at their details...but you can't see the cows calving details like if they needed assistance or not.Am I missing something as pretty much everything else seems to be there?:),

    thanks for any replies.

Agfood is the department of agriculture database AIM
Farmers don't have any input to it other than it being a list of all recorded births sales deaths etc plus an up to date list of what you have

Do you tell the department how easy or hard any of your calvings are?
You dont and no farmer does so its not going to be recorded anywhere

I thought icbf picked up calving difficulty once it was recorded on the likes of agrinet/kingswood.

When registering online on agfood the bottom section let's you fill out calving difficulty and pedigree name and this is sent to icbf. They record it but it does not appear on the department site just on icbf

If you click on a cow in AIMS it should bring up all her progeny. When you register a calf your supposed to put in its dam that's how they link it up.

It shows the progeny alright but not the calving details. The only calving details that we can see are on calves born from 2008-2012 in 'Animal Events'.
Think that was the suckler scheme?

Thanks, yeah I could see that alright but seems to be from the old Suckler Scheme. You would think with the BDGP scheme up and running now that you could be able to see how cows were calving....although I know that depends on what is recorded.

Thanks for all the replies, so in a nutshell there is no way of checking a bought in cows calving ability?

If it's recorded which in most cases of course it isn't

    €60 per year i think.
If you're in ICBF, go into profiles and click on basic herd. Pick the cow number and click on fertility, all the calving difficulty scores should be there if they have been entered.
